I was wondering what could the mechanical fuel pump bolted to the block have to do with a bad oil leak if any? Or what else could the problem be from? It's not the valve covers!

Hello,

Mechanical fuel pump can leak oil around the mounting area.
Typically, due to bad gasket.
Best course of action would be to inspect the fuel pump mounting area. Usually with oil leaks it is easy to tell if it has been leaking.
Keep in mind that the valve cover gaskets can leak as well. The best way to tell is to inspect those areas. You can also use oil dye, which can help you find leaks easier.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
