Will not start

I have a 1996 Chevy Blazer (S10) 4.3L 59,000 miles 4wd. About 2 months ago the blazer would not turn over. There was no sound, the battery was fully charged, and there was 12volts down to the starter. THe next day I ran through Park, reverse, neutral, drive and so on to see if the switch in the staering colum was bad. No luck. Eventually I was able to start it with no idea why it started. I then took it to a repair shop and they replace the ignition switch and it cranked. Now 2 months later it is doing the same thing. I can crank it by shorting out across the solonoid. The problem seems to be between the solonoid and the ignition switch, but I have no idea where to begin. Please help.
