Wheels locked up while driving

1999 Chevy blazer 4.3 l mileage uncertain. While traveling at 60mph we noticed a loss of powere it felt as is the transmission was losing overdrive. We started slowing down to manuver out of traffic and the rear wheels locked up. Motor still starts runs well, gear selection feels normal, no foward motion even while applying acceleration. Can I have damaged the differential?

If the tranny locks the motor into gear and loads the motor up when you push the gas have someone watch the driveshaft for rotation as you put it in gear. If the driveshaft turns you have a bad diff.
