Noise after Starting my Trail Blazer
Hi;
When I start my 2002 Trail Blazer (50,000 mi) in the morning I always let it idle for a few minutes. The cars starts fine but after a couple of minutes I hear a loud Clunk from the engine area. It does not affect the idle of the car. This condition does not seem to happen when starting the car warm.
Any idea of what this is?
Mike

does this clunk only occur once, or is it continuous until it warms up?

I would say it's probably just the starter bendix returning to its normal position after you start it. When its cold, this action may be hindered and the clunk you're hearing is the flywheel "giving the bendix a helping hand" lol. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
