I have a 96' blazer with approximately 160,xxx miles on it. It has a 4.3 litre V6 with about 130,xxxx miles. A few days ago I noticed the fuel pump was making a very loud, whiny noise. Then today, my car would not start. When I turn the ignition key forward I can hear the pump turn on as it is making the very loud, unusally whiny noise. Do I need to replace the fuel pump? My check engine light recently turned on as well. I have also had to replace the fuel pump 2 times within the last 2 years. Any help would be appreciated.

Symptoms are consistent with a pump going bad. I would stay with a delphi or Delco pump. Always replace the filter and sock with it.

Try rapping on the tank and set if it jars it enough to start. If nothing spray some carb leaner in the throttle bore and see if it starts temporarily to confirm fuel issue.

The CEL may or may not be related.
