Chevrolet Blazer Repair Question

Blazer Key Will not turn
1996 Cheve Blazer 4WD

The Engine key will not move.
After trying the usual of turning the wheel slightly it still will not move. In fact my husband snaped the steering wheel lock by doing this that it no longer locks.
Which is no big deal right now, because we have bigger problems.
Do we need a new ignition switch or could it be something else? He checked all the fuses. He hot wired the truck & it did start that way.
But they key will not turn. It will not go into gear or anything.
Is it the ignition or the steering column?

Sounds to be youre trucks igintion key cyl needs replacing, The tumblers in the key are jammed.

I have to bethe oneto call around to see how muchthey are.
