Negative battery cable.
Disable the SIR system by removing fuse.

Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position to unlock the steering wheel and turn the steering wheel 90 degrees from the straight-ahead position in order to gain access to the access holes behind the steering wheel.
Insert a screwdriver into each access hole and push the leaf spring to release the pin that retains the inflator module.
Turn the steering wheel 180 degrees to gain access to the remaining access holes.
Insert a screwdriver into each access hole and push the leaf spring to release the pin that retains the inflator module.
Tilt the top of the inflator module rearward to gain aSIR lead wire from the clip on the inflator module.
SIR lead wire from the clip on the steering wheel.
Connector position assurance (CPA) retainer and electrical connector.
Remove the inflator module from the vehicle. CAUTION: When you are carrying an undeployed inflator module:
Do not carry the inflator module by the wires or connector on the Inflator module.
Make sure the bag opening points away from you.
When you are storing an undeployed inflator module, make sure the bag opening points away from the surface on which the inflator rests. When you are storing a steering column, do not rest the column with the bag opening facing down and the column vertical. Provide free space for the air bag to expand in case of an accidental deployment. Otherwise, personal injury may result ccess to the SIR wiring.
