1995 Chevy Blazer 2WD/4WD Issue

Noises problem
1995 Chevy Blazer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 95,000 miles

I was driving on the highway when I heard and felt a high frequency vibration coming from the transmission. As I slowed down the whirring became a clicking sound. When I switched to 4wd the noise and vibration went away. Wehn I switched back to 2wd it happened again... Ideas?

I would first check the CV joints on both the front and rear drive shafts. Is the fluid in the transfer case full? Note; A CV joint can be bad, but many times you can't shake them to check for wear like you can a regular U-joint. Please advise.
