Transmission problem
1996 Chevy Beretta 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

1996 BERETTA WITH 150,000 MILES. THE SPEEDO QUIT AND THE CAR SEEMS TO BE STUCK IN A HIGH GEAR. IS THE TRANNY BAD OR IS THERE A POSSSIBLE BAD SENSOR CAUSING BOTH PROBLEMS AT ONCE?

My guess is the vehicle speed sensor or the wire connector to it has a broken wire. That is causing both your problems. Fix it now or you will burn out the transmission.
