2000 Chevy Astro starter engaging

2000 Chevy Astro 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 200456 miles
starter engages while idling, wont do it in drive or reverse, changed starter and ign switch same results. when its idling if you pull starter relay out it stops. please help going broke.

Hello, when the problem occurs, check for voltage at the crank fuse. That circuit should only be hot, with the key in the crank position, once the key returns to the run position, there should be no voltage on that circuit. No voltage to the control side of relay, no starter action.
Because that circuit is wired through the neutral switch, only continuity in park or neutral.
