1999 Chevy Astro Brakes Squealing While Driving

Brakes problem
1999 Chevy Astro 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 127986 miles

Brakes squeal or squeak while I am driving and stop when i hit the brakes or when I am at a stop or just idling. When It is cold or wet it also stops as well. at first it was just a faint sound, almost a knocking sound so I thought it was a muffler problem but then it turned into a squeaking that grew louder and louder over time. What is happening?

sounds like you need the brakes to be lubed up on the slides, antirattles and shims. also make sure the backing plate on the rear brakes are llubed up.

you want to do this all yourself? im not sure thats a good idea if you don't know what the parts i just listed are.

the knocking noise could be a sign of a loose caliper or bad bearing or a worn bushing. as a muffler doesnt normally knock
