Noises problem
1998 Chevy Astro 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 139, 0 miles

i had a new fuel pump installed by a mechanic and the new one was so loud I thought an emergency vehicle was following me he replaced that pump and now the present one is making a high pitched noise also. You can hear it inside the van going down the hiway. Is there some way to fix the problem the new pump is worse than the old one. Which is why I replaced it. Because the mechanic told me it was going out. He said it was normal . He charged me $940 to repair.

Go with a chevy part from the dealership. Cheap after market pumps are loud as hell.

Then they must have put in the wrong part, or they installed it improperly. Have them put a bit of rubber sealant under the pump flange wehre it meets the tank, and also isolate the straps on the tank.

Have him sign an agreement that he will pay the bill if another shop fixes your problem if that is supposidly whats wrong. If its due to him replacing the pump then you can have it paid for, if its another reason your out of luck.
