When coming to a stop my car surges forwards, as if somebody got me in the back. This happens only when driving on hot, on cold starts for 10-15 mins I dont have it. After reading on bmw forums online people have this issue and its quite common. What could it be? Do I need tranny software update or ecu upgrade? Thanks.

Try putting the car in neutral when coming to a stop to see if the engine surges. Then down shift manually the next time to see if that makes a difference. If the motor goes smooth alone then you can definitely rule it out. Id say that a reprogram of the trans software is a good start. However, id check to see if theres any codes in the trans and engine computers as a communication problem between sensors can also cause these issues
