Hello and thank you for your time. My dodge Durango 1999 will not shift into 2nd gear at all. About 2 weeks ago I had the water pump and fan clutch replaced but prior to the water pump going out I would feel some jerking and on some occasions I would feel the car taking too long to shift into following gears along with a woozing sound and squeak coming from the engine area. When the car was at certain temperature it would run just fine but then I would park it and when I would use car again I wouldn't feel or hear the normal roar of the engine that a 5.9 gives, instead I would push on the gas pedal an it was as if was stuck at a take off speed even in first gear. Now after the water pump and fan clutch have been replaced it is worse as in it doesn't shift into 2nd gear at all but first and reverse are fine. Could improper fan clutch or any of that sort cause the transmission not to shift. If the fan clutch doesn't spin to the rate of the RPMs does the transmission receive the proper signal from the computer to switch gears or does the computer not signal the fan clutch to turn on at certain temperatures? What are the first cheapest easiest ways to go about fixing this problem, if you could please help me with a bit of knowledge it would be highly appreciated on my behalf also my familys. Gotta get the car going to provide. Thank you so much. RICHARD

Replacing engine partsnormally have no effect on your transmission. On yours there may one of tow things wrong, a valve body problem like a governor and or the seals or clutch paks are worn out and fluid can't engage it. Best to have a trans guy check thisout.
