Our cars engine light came on and it just lost power and started running rought the more you gave it gas the engine light would blink was runnig fine till up to that time. We drove it straight home

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine manangement system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.

I got my car tested today at auto parts store has me a little worried number 1 cyclinder is miss firing

Have it investigated and repaired, could be as little as a spark plug, or mechanical issue. If you have a flashing engine light, it is indicating that it is catalyst damaging.

My light will blik when giving it gas lay off and it stays on looking at my car which plug would be my #1 cyclinder and would a plug just go out so quick after running good. What do you mean catalyst damage

Check no.1 compression and injector

Engine misfiring can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs, a weak spark (weak coil, bad spark plug wire), loss of compression, vacuum leaks, anything that causes an unusually lean fuel mixture (lean misfire), an EGR valve that is stuck open, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, or even bad fuel.
