I have a 1989 cadillac Deville with 129k V8. The problem with my cars is that it shakes really really bad a lot of times and then this weird smell will start coming through the vents. When my car is in this phase I have to press the accelerator all the way down to the floor in order for my car to move also if I stop or take my foot of the gas during slow speed my car will cut off. When my car cuts off I put it in park and restart and it cuts back and there is a 50/50 chance that it will still be in this phase. Also, when my car is in this phase if a drive over a really bad bump on the driver side it knocks the vehicle back into a normal stage of moving. I have had a tune up, replace MAF, Air filter, fuel fileter, and temp sensor. I think it might be my cat converter, fuel pump, or O2 sensor. Hepl please.

Sounds like maybe a loose wire or ground or something maybe. Have you tried to wiggle wires around to duplicate the problem? Maybe a bad engine control module. You can pull it down and kinda smack it with the palm of your hand and see if you can duplicate the problem...

No loose ground wires. I just replaced my o2 sensor and cat converter to no avil. Also, I forgot to mention that my car is using up an extreme amoutn of gas, I'm talking about maybe 8-10 mpg when its running rough. Problem still exsits I think it might be the fuel pump.

I would suspect that you would have an injector or two that are going south. A fuel pump is not going to cause an over fueling issue. You might want to try and ohms the injectors or maybe wiggle the wires to the injectors and give them a little tap with a screw driver while the problem is occuring...Any checks will need to be made while the car is acting up...
