My vehicle is currently awaiting repair. There is damage to the subframe, a wheel is damaged and the front air deflector needs replacing.
Breakout of costs given by the appraiser is:
repl front air deflector 131.34 labor 0.4
repl lkq sub frame +25% 375.00 Labor 6.5
electrical
R&I tire sensor labor 0.2
repl rt front wheel 179.00
Total parts $685.34
Total Labor 7.1 hours @ 70.00 $497.00
Sublet/M SC $154.99
The total for labor (7.1 hours) seems low. My mechanic claims he'll need to drop the engine and transmission and replace them, which in itself is 10 hours of labor. The appraiser was sent by my insurance company.
Does the estimate seem correct, or is it lowballed? Or is the labor for the enging work inflated?
