Why does my 1993 cadillac backfire and blowup my muffler?I have had almost evrything done to this car plugs wires coils altanator computer and it still does the same thing chugs and backfires and blows out my muffler

Could be timing chain is shot allowing cam timing to advance and retard to far. Acceleration pulls chain to far one way and backing of allows it to pull back the other way. Alot of unburnt fuel can then buid up in the muffler and when you have a misfire/backfire the fuel in the muffler ignites. Kaboom!

This also makes for alot of rough idle and "chugging along".

Have you scaned the codes, its probally your antiback fire valve for your AIR system. Its the big valve on the back valve cover, should replace the AIR pump also
