1992 Cadillac Deville Car does not start

My 92 deville does not want to start when i put my key in the engine does not turn over nothing at all i brought a new battery thinking it was bad but still nothing.I have got under the car and checked my starter by tapping it and using a screwdriver to turn it on what can it be

Will it crank with direct 12v applied to the starter?

Yes i have but car still does not start and engine does not turn over.And i have also took out the egnition module to get it tested and it was good so im still not sure what it can be now

still have to help me a little more, when direct 12v is applied to the starter does the starter engage and crank the engine?

Yes when 12v is applied the starter does engage and cranks the engine but does not start the car

if that is the case then you should replace the Starter relay, well work on the cranking problem first,

also check for loose or corroded cables, if those are all good and its not the relay then you may need a new ignition switch.

do you have a message across the insterment panel, wait 3 minutes before starting? or a scurity lite?

Well the only lights that appear wen the key is turned forward is the oil light with the pic of a oil pan and the charge light with the pic of a battery on the bottom left hand corner where it says information center,the secriuty light stays on.

And note that the car is not on the key is just forward cause like i said the car does not start and i have had my starter to get checked today and was told my starter is good not bad,could it be my ignition switch?

It is probably the theft system, ill turn it over to buzzsaw, he is the caddy man around here.

Ok i really preciate that blackop555 but still most likey tomarow im goin to remove the ignition switch and see if that is what it is unless Buzzsaw knows 4 sure it is the theft system

the ign switch is part of the theft system, when you pull out the switch there will be an orange wire that hooks to it, if it is broke thats how the theft system reads your key, take an ohm reading of you key, the little slit thing in it, its a resistor, go to radio shack and buy the same resistor and put it in the orange wire, put the switch back in it and try to start it
