I can't think of what he could have done. Try disconnecting the battery, both cables, and touching them together to deplete any transient voltage. Reconnect and see if that restores operation.

That's because the module is sensing a problem and shutting down for safety. All you are doing is erasing all the diagnostic info the module has collected. You need someone with a professional, bidirectional scan tool that can access those modules.

All of the windows in my car stop working.
It all started when I discovered about five gallons of water in the left rear door. I was able to remove the water by pulling a seal on the bottom of the door. Afterwards the window on that door stop working. That left me with three working windows for about three weeks until I drain the battery by leaving a charger in the 12volt socket for to long.
Now none of the windows work. I tried changing the master switch, but that did not work either. My question to you is there a reset procedure for the windows?

What I am sending is for the module replacement, but probably will reprogram your windows you must do both. If the rear window module was not replaced it will not work due to water intrusion probably if it does you are lucky. If this does not work have it scanned for codes a local pro will have to do it.

Here are steps 1-5 which isn't required on yours because you aren't replacing the modules only trying to reprogram them. Also in our tips section one person found the red/white wire disintegrated under rear seat carpet so if you have that it would need repair to where it's good again.

I just put a new battery in the car. Now the driver side power is not working. The power locks, mirrors, windows, and trunk release will not work. All the other windows and locks work from their respective doors. I checked all my fuses and none were blown. Any other ideas?

Hi kermitca80,

Thank you for the donation.

Vehicle uses many control modules and they are interlinked so a scan is required to retrieve for trouble codes to know which control module is causing the components described to malfunction.

Kermitca80,

I have 2005 cts with almost same miles. I have the exact same problem. Driver's door panel won't do anything. The door locks, windows, seat presets all do nothing when pressed but other doors work.

Did you find anything out since your post?

2005 Cadillac Cts. I have just recently experienced problems with my passenger rear window. I let the wind down and now it won't go back up. The button to make it go up causes it to go down and the window makes a grinding noise when pushing the button, what could be the cause of this and can it be repaired by myself?

It may be the cable/motor is broken. The grinding may be the gear of the motor grinding against the cable. That is replaced as an assembly and the door has to be taken apart. A mechanic can do itfairly easily but not knowing your abilities it's hard to say whether you can or not. The motor is available online or at an auto parts store and it si fairly a bolt up operation, just be careful with theglass, not to knock it out of the channel or break it.

On my Cadillac CTS the driver side doors automatic functions will not work. The window will not roll down, the door will not unlock, and the mirror will not move. But you can still control the other window and doors from the driver side. I am wondering if it is the fuse or something else? Can you please help?

Hello

The information I have is the driver's door module. All of those items go thorough that and are controlled by that. There was a technical service bulleting about many mirrors being returned as not working and they were all good. It was due to the control module. This same TSB was under the door locks and windows as well.

Have you had your battery disconnected recently?

What you might consider doing is swapping that with one in the passenger door and see if the problem moves to that door. If so, it is the module.

Hello Again, I just thought, your drivers door module may not be the same as the passenger. So before you tear the doors apart, call the parts department and see if the drivers and passenger's module are the same part number. If so, then I would do the check. I will continue to look to see if there are any checks you can do to the module if the passengers are not the same. Please let me know.

Would this also effect the radio, temp guage, and fuel guage? When you open the drivers door it is suppose to turn off the radio and this is not happening. Also when the car is running and you have the radio turned off it will turn on automatically. Also the radio just cuts off and on and the display always changes between different screens and then locks. The guages aren't working correctly either. Also at night the dash lights will turn on bright and then turn off and keep flashing. The traction control light is staying on also. Can this all be related or do I have multiply issues?

Hello

Just a couple of things, I had asked on the last post if you have had your battery disconnected recently? Have you? Also, have you had to jump your car or someone else's?

Based off of the additional information you provided, you may have a control module going bad. Which one I am not sure since you need a scan tool to check them all and see what codes they produce. What you are talking about though is tied to the Accessory Delay Module or (RAP) Retained Accessory Power. This takes input from the dash integration module. I attached a brief description of what it does. I put down just a few other modules the RAP interfaces with. I would lean toward the Dash Integration Module since it monitors so many items to include input from the door modules. Some of these are, Climate control panel, Dash Integration Module, Engine Control Module, Instrument Panel Cluster, Lt Headlamp Leveling Module, Rear integration Module, Rt Headlamp Leveling module.

I do believe your problems are all related. Again, you will have to have a scan tool hook up for the test. As I reviewed, the test is pretty detailed. It will produce certain codes for the mechanic to check and direct them to the bad module.

If it were me, I would still check on the part numbers of the door module. If the drivers and passengers is the same, I would swap them and see if the problem moved.
