2001 Cadillac Catera oil

HI, the car drives great but after a while when we slow down or turn a corner the oil light comes on, and when we get home and out of car we smell burst oli and later it has a tiny bit of oil on drivway, but level looks fine, has been doing this for months
we tried stop leak but didnt change anything. We need to get inspected soon and wondered what to tell mechanic?

More than likely, at least the cam covers are leaking oil, one way to cofirm this is to pull the coils from both banks and check for oil in the spark plug ports. This would be the most obvious. As for other possibilities of oil leaks, the cam seals in the front, oil cooler lines in the valley, to name a few.

As far as the oil light, it would be best to have a physical oil pressure test done, and if satisfactory change the sending unit.
