I recently purchased my buick regal at a local auction. At first it had a stutter while driving so I did a tune up and that seemed to fix the problem. The only other problem it had was when I would pull up to a stop light or stop sign the motor would occasionally die on me. I simply put the car in neutral and it starts right back up every time. It doesn't die every single time I pull to a stop but it does happen quite frequently. Usually its after the car has warmed up. It has never failed to restart when I put it in neutral but its still an inconvenience. Do you have any suggestions on what I can do to fix this problem? Im planning a 2,000 mile trip in a month and would really like to have this problem fixed before I hit the road. Thank you very much for any help you may be!

Check and clean the throttle bore and remove the iac valve and clean that bore, check the vacuum hoses on top of the throttle body, the grommets get rock hard over time and cause a vacuum leak. Does the check engien light come on? Check wiring under front of engine, the harness may be rubbing and shorting when engine shifts. This is where I would start looking.

Yes, the check engine light does come on occasionally but it never stays on. I can actually give you a little bit better knowledge on my car, the motor stalls while braking. I was coming up to a turn and I braked down to 40 mph and the engine stalled. So its not just when braking at stop sign or lights. As I said, it never fails to start back up immediately. I will check the things you said and I really do appreciate your help. With this new information I have given, if you can think of anything else it could be I would greatly appreciate the input. It seems that it only dies when applying the brakes and not all the time. Thank you again very much for your help and I hope to hear from you soon.
