1989 Buick Regal vehicle is running rich
Engine Performance problem

this vehicle idles down and up then dies, it is blowing black smoke, and has killed it's converter

Has the check engine light come on? There are a few things that can cause this. That is why I am asking about the light. It will help narrow down the problem.

Thank's Joacb, as it turned out the fuel pressure regulator was leaking fuel into the vacume source.
A new regulator and away it went.
