HELP. 2000 buick park ave 3.8 fi. Problem stalling and holding idle. This problem started a couple of months ago. It seemed to happen only after a hard rain. It would start with no problem and then die a couple of miniutes later. I can restart it but it wouldnt hold and idle. I can keep it reving at 3000 rpm with no problem or by pumping the gas. Eventually it would clear its self up and run fine. It would never die after it has warmed up. But today it had its little seizure but it hasent rained.
the only thing ive done is change the fuel fiter and cleaned off the MAF with carb cleaner. There are no check engine lights on. Can there be error codes without the light?

I would scan it and see if any codes appear in recent memory. If none, then check the fuel pressure regulator. There was a recall on those for my wife's 99 PA.

I did have the fuel regulator changed on the recall, thanks...

I figured it out.... It ended up being the MAP sensor.

I put it on a code reader and got a MAF error p0101 and MAP error p0108. It started having its stalling seizure on every cold start rain or shine. Here's how I diaged it. On cold start It would always come up with the P0101 MAP code and then stall. So as it was having its seizure I would reset the codes and it would clear out and start running fine "till the next cold start". As I was driving the P0108 MAP code would come show up, but the car was still running fine. I would reset this while driving and it would pop back up instantly. So a trip to AutoZone and 50 bucks less in my pocket and it fixed. I guess the MAP was telling the MAF to do something it didn’t want to do causing the problem. Hope this can help someone.
