Engine Cooling problem
2001 Buick Park Avenue 6 cyl Automatic 120000 miles

I have a Park Ave 2001. Temp gauge has shown it running hot in city traffic - one line from red zone. It seems to run at this zone pretty consistently - but doesn't overheat. Today the line inched closer to the red zone - and when I shut it off I could smell the engine.

Suggestions?

It runs cooler - but not cool. It goes down one line - but not even to the mid point. Checked the fans - they are working.

May try new thermostst and system flush. If fans on, no leaks, no debris blocking radiator flow. Then thermo and flush logical step.
