Sounds like a failed ignition switch, ignition wiring harness or fusible link at the starter. Somewhere the circuit is not being completed. If the starter system is not reading the key in start or run mode, you can jump start it all day but it won't keep running. Ignition switch is buried under the steering wheel. Harness runs through column to under the dash and fusible link is at the starter solenoid.
