1991 Buick Park Avenue Repair Question
Rough/no start
1991 Buick Park Avenue 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 170000 miles
Hello everyone. For the last week or so my car has been starting pretty rough. I would have to apply the gas pedal for it to turn over. Today, it won't start at all. It doesn't even sound like it was trying to turn over.
Answer
In an EFI system you don't have to touch the gas pedal for it to start. If its cranking over and will not start-best check for fuel and spark-do below
Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it
So with all that's happened In the past couple of days is it possible that it might be the spark plugs?
It depends when was the last tune-up-check anyway to be sure.
