Replace the horn?

Hello. The horn has been replaced once by GM and is dying once again. (Car has 56K). It happened after driving in a heavy rain storm this spring. I believe it is a design flaw. Do you know if I could replace the horn (or have it replaced) with a 90's or later 4-tone Cadillac Brougham or Deville horn (for a nicer sound)? Would that horn fit the car and would it withstand water any better? Thank you.

The four tone horn is actually produced by four horns. It would require some wiring additions to achieve the retrofit, if it is possible. Is it possible that some splash protection is missing or broken, and/or the horns are mounted in such a way that they capture water and retain it? Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

That's what I thought, thanks. The Lucerne has 2 notes (when it works). My old Deville had the A, B, C, D notes (4 horns, yes), and worked for over 12 years. Since the Lucerne seems to have some engineering flaw with water not draining from the horns, and the warrantee is up, I thought I would customize the horn a bit. Maybe I should look for a retro Buick 2 note (70's) and (epoxy?) A splash guard in as you suggested. Thanks.

I am looking at how to replace my horn that isn't working and I don't know where it is located at and how to get to it. If you could please advise location and maybe pictures of where this item is located at?

Have you checked for a blown fuse? That would be caused by a shorted horn. Do you hear the horn relay click? If not, it's much more common to have a broken clock spring. That's a wound-up ribbon cable in a plastic housing under the steering wheel. Other systems will also fail if that ribbon cable is breaking, most notably the air bag system and cruise control.

The horns are just inside the front of the left front tire. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Im need to know where the horn is located so I can unplug the wires from it and connect them to my aftermarket air horn. So need to know where the horn location is

The horn on by 2007 Buick Lucerne is at least partially defective. When new the horn had a loud, multi-tone horn. It is now a mono-tone and not nearly as loud as before. I believe this happened during a long drive through heavy rain fall. Is it possible to repair a horn? Or, does it need to be replaced? What does a new horn cost?

Most cars comes with two horn and I would suspect a defective one of them and need to be replaced
I would expect to by under $100 for it to be fixed and replaced

I had the same experience with my 2007 Lucerne horn at about 50K miles. Buick dealer tech indicated to me that horn is mounted low and oriented so that horn does not drain properly. He had seen this issue on several Lucernes. Underbody wash from auto-car wash may also contribute to premature failure. GM has not recognized this as an engineering flaw and will not repair unless car is still under warranty. Cost to repair, labor and parts, $250 at dealer. Probably can be repaired by owner, but car rides very low and would likely require a lift or stationary jack in order to gain access. New horn alone $100. I own two nearly identical Lucernes, one still under warranty. Dealer offered to repair second as a warranty claim.

My 2006 Buick Lucerne CXS started having issues with the horn today and I need help troubleshooting.

The horn sounds very small and muffled now, instead of the strong loud sound it had previously. It still sounds when I activate it, however it just sounds very muffled, like a toy.

My husband and I have looked in the engine compartment but cannot even locate the device to see if it may be somehow blocked.

Will you please let me know where the horn is located and if you have an assessment of what may be wrong with the device?

The vehicle has a high pitch and low pitch horn, sounds like the high pitch horn is burnt out. They are an assembaly, they are replaced as a unit. The location should be in the pass front of the car, you might have to remove the pass headlight assembaly to see the horn. Should be 1 connector and 1 ten mm bolt. Post back with what you find.
