That's probably a bad main switch but it should be tested before replacing.

Check for applicable trouble codes. There are power window trouble codes. There are modules in each door.

I just reread your question and realized you said it was both switches. That means you need to test the motor.

Most likely it's a bad window motor you would have to remove the inner door panel and make sure you were getting power and ground to the motor. If you were then you would have to make sure the glass wasn't binding. Also sometimes if you lightly tap on the motor while moving the switch it get's the motor moving for a short period of time if the motor is bad.

I had the problem of only drivers window rolling down. No dome light when passenger doors opened. Wiring under the drivers seat ( not hard to take out ) got wet then corroded. I could see it right away when I pulled my carpet up.

6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 55000 miles

Every few months the driver's side window won't go down. No noise - completely dead. The window won't work no matter how many times I press the button. But the next morning the window will work the first time I press the botton and will work consistantly for a couple of months until it happens again. Each time it fixes itself the next day. I tried jiggling the button, pounding the door panel and slamming the door thinking it might be a loose wire but nothing fixes it until the next day when it works like nothing happened. What's wrong with it?

Hello,

There is a door and window control module that goes bad in these cars making the window not work from time to time. Here are some guides to help you see what I am talking about. You will need to remove the door panel to access the module.

and

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

Car is totally dead. Took back door apart to fix the window that does not go up. Finally received the part went out to the car totally dead. Remotes do not work, also the key will not even open the trunk. The AAA said when they came to jump it and got nothing that a kill switch was probably tripped. We bought this car used about 4 yrs ago. Is it possible the window needs to be done and reconnected for the car to turn over? Or is there possibely a kill switch?

The window has nothing to do with it and I never heard of a kill switch. THere is an Auto Shut Down (ASD) for the engine, but that won't kill all of the electrical system.

Have you checked to make sure the battery terminals and grounds to the engine block are clean and tight? I realize that may sound elementry to you, but many times that causes the problem. Also, does the battery have a good charge producing 12+ volts?

Hello I'm Jack Whatchier a proud owner of a 99 Buick Lesabre Limited it has 97,602.7 miles and has a 3800 stage 2 v6 over the last 3 days my power windows sometimes work, it started out with just the passenger side door not going up from the master panel it then corrected itself then the rear windows started the same system this time none of the switches worked then it fixed itself and the same problem has occurred again I noticed sometimes when trying to get windows up that my lights go dim for an instant and sometimes the windows moves, it this a problem on the fuse relay center or what I'd rather start out with the cheaper fixes before I go to a dealer thank you for your help

Jack the fist thing I would look at is the wires were they come out of the door, and bend all the time.
If you untape them you will most likly find broken wires that will sometimes match up and sometimes not!
