car will turn over but not fire then retry and will fire up after few attemps had checked on comp at local garage says camshaft or crankshaft fault but i have no lights coming on any ideas cheers lee

There are several bulletins from BMW on this issue. It could be in need of reprogramming of the DME, it might be a bad instrument cluster. The way to tell is to get a printout from the diagnostic equipment the dealer uses called a GT-1. This will provide a direction for the repairs to begin.
