1985 Other BMW Models CV-joint boot clamps
1985 Other BMW Models
Hi!
I'm working on the CV-joint linking my 30HP BMW marine engine to the propulsion shaft. It is kind of a universal joint with axial adjustment, covered with a rubber boot. I need to replace the two bootclamps (looks like special hose clamps). QUESTION: Can I use normal good quality hoseclamps with screwthreads as used on water piping, or must I somehow find the original special clamps? Here in Antofagasta in Chile there are virtually no spareparts available, no shops reconditioning CV joints.
I'm worried that a "normal" hoseclamp may get loose due to vibrations. Your comments are much appreciated!
