when I start my BMW 740il a big plume of white smoke comes from the tailpipe then goes away. What could it be?

It could be condensation or it could be engine coolant. Pressure testing the cooling system overnight with the spark plugs out might show which cylinder(s) are filling with coolant. Does the cooling system have a water/coolant mix? If so, then a sweet aroma will accompany the white smoke.
