Hello. My quesions is that if hard downshifts are normal for a 2001 BMW 540i with 110000 milEs.

Also I want to do I myself the pcv and the valley pan gasket, any tips and websites of where I can learn how to do it right. Thank you and I appreciate ur time

Unless you have a fair amount of automotive skill, I would recommend that you leave that task to an experienced set of hands. An `01 540 is not a good car to learn on, there are many factors involved. Specialized tools and equipment are required and are cost prohibitive to do this job just once. The shifting issue could possibly be a software update, without a printout of software levels and possible stored faults, I cant tell from cyberspace.
