Overheating

528i, 1998, 133256miles in recently replaced my water pump coz it waqs broken and then went ahead and replaced the thermostat with the gaskets to it, but it is still overheating. What could be the problem plwase advice thankyou

It is possible that you have not purged the system of air yet. There is an air bleed screw that is made from black plastic. When you fill the system, open the screw and air will escape, start the car and continue to idle the engine until air is purged, then tighten the screw(not too tight, it is plastic) reinstall the radiator cap and allow to run at idle and check for leaks. That should do it.

I do get that I need to purge the system of the air coz actually the hoses were filling with air after I changed the water pumo but where is the plastic black screw that I need to unscrew so I can let the air off, its on a 1998 528i bmw

I am sorry I was not more exact in my description. The screw is on the top of the expansion tank. The expansion tank is the small tank to the right of the radiator.
