1995 BMW 525i Front Flange and Middle Bearing Replacement

Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
1995 BMW 525i 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 157000 miles

To Whom it May Concern:

My mechanic said the Front Flange and Middle Bearing needs replacement.

The front flange looked like a rubber piece connecting the drive shaft that was chipped away at. How does this happen?

How many hours would this take to replace?

I was told the exhaust system needs to be removed to get to this problem.

Thanks,

Removed, no. Out of the way yes. I do not usually take the exhaust out, but it is no big deal. The driveshaft repair work you have described should not take any more than 2.5 hours. Be aware that if the center support bearing and the hardy disc need repair then the driveshaft needs to be evaluated for re-use and at this time you may wish to have the driveshaft rebuilt or replaced with a brand new unit.
