My 330 Conv has had 4 batteries in 4 years. I just recantly put a brand new bat. From bmw in 2 mos. Ago and it was dead again yesrterday. Is this a classic problem for bmw or do I have a problem? Note, I do not drive this car on a regular basis, it is my fun car and stays in the garage, I drive it about once every couple of weeks on average

This is a problem that you might consider installing a "battery minder" type battery charger for. The battery drain is from the draw the CAN bus communications require and if you drive the car infrequently, the battery will discharge to the point of killing the battery over time ♥♥

Just came back from the BMW Dealership. Its a test of wills there.
Have the infrequent dead battery problem. They say because that we don't drive enough it kills the battery due to all the "Computers" on board.
They tried to charge $500 for the new "special battery" and a battery minder.
I have had all sorts of vehicles, and this is ridiculous. You can leave a Honda in the garage for 8 months and it starts right up, but a BMW? Dies if not paid enough attention to.
Did research, their are alternatives,
I found the Specs to the OEM Odessey batttery and found that Autocraft and Sears have good products and warranties. Just be careful of the dimensions, because BMW like to shove the battery in the space of a shoe sock.
