Engine Cooling problem
2001 BMW 330 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 65k miles

2001 BMW 330 CI covertible.
i just purchased a new radiator with the same part number as the original.
the drain plug is different. The original drain has an insert for the plug. It has an O ring seal at the base with about a two inch extension and then another O ring seal. It appears to limit one of the many radiator tank channel flows.
the new radiator does not have this or allow for it's inclusion. Coolant channels appear identical and everything else, including the part number, is the same.
i checked with autohaus parts and they say they sell many of these.
any ideas?

One is supposed to be for an automatic transmission and one is for manual. I have never been able to figure out the difference. It is the correct radiator, just put it together.
