My 2000 BMW 328i check engine light comes on for a week or so at a time and when it is on the car idles rough and runs rough. It gets better when the car warms up. I had auto zone do a check engine scan and it said (multi cylinder mis-fire). I was told I needed a tuneup but when the light goes out the car runs perfect.

Thanks for getting back to me with the vin. The spark plugs may require replacement and it is recommended at 100,000 miles. If the fault diagnosis is not specific(if there is no cylinder identification for the misfire) I would try replacement of the spark plugs first. The NGK spark plug # is BKR6EQUP and the BOSCH spark plug # is FGR7DQP. Please do not attempt to install other types of spark plug as they may cause faults, I have seen platinum or other "premium" plugs sold by parts people trying to do what they believe is the right thing, only it isn't, trust me on this. Repost to me if you need further assistance, good luck and have a good day
