I have BMW 318 N Reg. That needs a new Exhaust however I don’t know if it is worth getting it fixed, as when I drive I lose power and the car stalls, is this because of the exhaust or is it separate issue/problem?

It could be the catalytic converter, Try using a rubber mallett or your hand and bang on the exhaust, see if you hear anything rattling insde the exhaust, could be the convereter "bed" broke up and pieces are loged in the system, choking the engine!

Hi thanks for reply.
The exhaust is in bits, could this cause the engine to lose power?
