1993 BMW 318 air cabin filter

Air Conditioning problem
1993 BMW 318 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 90000 miles

I can hear the air blowing but it's not coming out the vents very well. I think it is the cabin air filter and it's probably never been changed. This is a eurospec car and the manual is in German. I took off the glove box but I can't find the filter. Please advise if this car even has an air filter and if so, where is it? Thanks!

It is either in the area between the heater box and the firewall or it is accessed from the underhood area, here is a link to a site that is quite useful: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=CG51&mospid=47454&btnr=64_0664&hg=64&fg=10
