1999 BMW 316 Airbag light is permanently on

1999 BMW 316 Four Wheel Drive Manual
I think I may have damaged the wiring for the airbag. After moving both the passenger seat and drivers seat forward, the airbag light seems to have stayed on continously. Can you please instruct me if this is possible and what I can do to locate the problem. Thank you
