THE CAR IS IN GREAT SHAPE, BUT HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN 4K MILES IN LAST 10 YEARS. AFTER STARTING AND BEGINNING TO DRIVE, THE TRANSMISSION WILL STICK IN 2nd GEAR FOR QUITE A WHILE BEFORE SHIFTING RATHER SHARPLY. AFTER ONE OR TWO OF THESE SHIFTS, AND IF THE CAR IS AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMP, THE SHIFTS ARE PERFECT. ANY IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON OR IF IT IS EVEN A CONCERN?

Chances are the problem is the result of the car sitting and not being used. I would recommend that you put a couple hundred miles on it to see if the problem goes away. Also, make sure the trans fluid is clean and full. That can have an affect on the shifting.
