2004 Audi Quattro Cam Adjuster
Engine Mechanical problem
2004 Audi Quattro 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 45000 miles
Engine started making noise, sounded like something rubbing, like a belt. Mechanic said it was Cam Adjuster, he changed it for $2,000, sound came back right away. After working on it more, he said that the Adjuster was installed incorrecly, something about the teeth not being aligned correctly. He still wants $2,000. What I don't understand is how the bad Cam Adjuster would make the same noise as an incorrectly installed Adjuster. Any feedback would be appreciated.
