Hi, thanks in advance for the help. I'm planning on buying a 1995 Audi A6, but the head gasket on it needs to be replaced. I don't know any mechanics besides names and functioning of the parts.
How much do you think it'll cost to buy a new one and repair it? And also, do you think it's a good deal considering I would buy it for $1,200?
Thanks again!

Do you mean cost of buying the gasket and have a shop replace it or buying the gasket and you replacing it yourself? I would be very leery of purchasing a vehicle with head gasket issues. That normally means the engine has overheating issues, so when the gasket is fixed there is still a problem to fix.

Thanks for the reply! Well I do have a friend who would have no problems replacing it. He just told me the price is around $30
So, do you think it'll be better just to avoid this one and try buying another car? Or maybe I can take my friend (with large knowledge of mechanics) with me to check it?
Thanks again!

Thats a big job so you must have a great friend. It wouldnt hurt taking friend along to check it out if you really like the car. Anything can be fixed, its just a matter of time and cost.
