The brake pad light recently came on for my '95 A6. I will be replacing the pads myself but can't decide whether to use the $30 semi-metallic pads or the $100 ceramic pads. Do you have any advice as to what I should do. I just need something that will work well for everyday driving. Thanks.

Hi there, I personally prefer the semi metallic pads, as they do give a better feel, the ceramics will last longer, but I don't like the feel of these when braking, get the rotors skimmed and you should not have a problem.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if there is much difference in the semi metallic pads. There are some as cheap as $30 and all the way up to $75. I am looking at NAPA. Also, I have heard that there is not much tolerance on Audi rotors, if I turn them and they are a few thousandths under spec, is that going to be ok? I appreciate the advice.

Hi there, steer away from the cheaper pads, as they are high in resin, and they will squeal like a stuck pig after a while, use a good quality high end semi metallic brand and you won't have a problem, the rotors will be fine, but budget for new rotors next brake change,
