Hi,
I have 2.8 quattro 5-speed manual with 79K miles and was hoping you could help me out with a couple of problems. First, the ABS sensors engage every time I come to a stop. This happens at a slow speed and with light brake pressure. No fault codes showed up and the front sensors were cleaned but the rear sensors are lodged in and will probably break if removed. Should I replace rear sensors?

The other problem only occurs when the weather is cold. The car stalls when I press the clutch while coming to a stop or downshifting. The RPMs take a nose dive once the clutch is pressed. It starts up right away afterwards. Once again, no fault codes and I brought it to a couple of shops but no one can pinpoint the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Yeah the stalling might be hard to do over the web. My guess is that the idle isn't choking properly when the weathers cold. Check for proper operation of the temp and maf sensors.
As to the brakes, I'd check for a leaking booster. It may cause the stall.
Also, see that the wheel speed sensors read the same the one that doesn't is bad. Or, it could be something else entirely. My ABS light comes on for low fluid, like a cm below full. The only way to pull the code is when the light is on. The abs resets at every start.
