1996 Audi A4 Over Heating

Hi, we have replaced the top gasket set, fitted a new water bottle, radiotor checked out, the ar still over heats? Have not yet checked the thermostat - could this be the problem?

Yes it could very likely be the thermostat but also check the impellor blades on the water pump some times they come loose from the shaft ps make sure the cooling fan is turning on
