The shift lever will not move into reverse or park and the key is stuck in the ignition switch, what is the easiest way to get it into park and remove the key?

Hi davedarby,

Thank you for the donation.

The interlock system seems to be the cause. Check if the brake lights are working. (Fuse #13 (10A))

Look for slots or button on the gear shift panel, it can be used for manually getting into park.

Hi davedarby,

If the button is frozen, you might have a situation here. Something might have broken and is obstructing the lever/button/interlock solenoid.

You would need to remove the console to get at it.

Ok so the interlock works with a solenoid off fuse 13?

What does the button on the side of the shift lever do?

Activate the solenoid?

Thanks DD

Hi davedarby,

No, the solenoid works of Fuse #231. Fuse #13 = brake switch. When you depress the brake pedal with ignition switch on, do you hear the interlock solenoid clicking?

The button is for manually bypassing the interlock solenoid.
