STRONG GAS SMELL COMING FROM EXHAUST
All Other Makes All Other Models
Hi my name is Trent. The problem I'm having is when the car runs for at least 5mins. The exhaust smells like gas.I have a 1991 Acura Integra, 181429miles auto, 1.8 liter engine. When I first looked at the car it took some time to start.I thought because it was cold. It has some sort of cold air device on it where the factory air filter was. It also has some sort of sports muffler on it. After my mechanic looked at it he gave me the go ahead to buy the car.I had to get the car towed home because I had no tags. The next day on my day off from work.I decided to start the car so it can run for a few minutes.I had to give it some gas to start. When it started the exhaust rumbled. The engine idles good(It does'nt stutter or even give a hint of dying).I'm pushing all the buttons makeing sure everything works. When the window goes down a strong smell of gas entered the cabin. The engine does not smell like gas. The ground is dry.I tried to look it up on the internet to narrow it down to the fuel regulator or the injectors. Also the car is a coupe.I have no tools and very little money to work with at this time. Thats all the information I can give at this point because the car has no tags for me to give the proper review. Please help me.
