NG900 TURN SIGNAL FAILURE

1994 All Other Makes All Other Models

1994 900S V6 63K miles, all services kept up. Electrical problems occurred around the same time. The turn signals quit, the engine temp gague stopped working, the windshield wipers stopped working but the washer still pumps. The turn signal switch shows continuity at pins 2 and 3 when the switch is in one direction and on pins 3 and 4 in the other direction. There is power at the switch connector to pin 3. The wiper switch seems okay also. The fuses have been checked and the contacts cleaned. Another strange thing is the power seats will stop working but if you pull the fuse and wait then replace it the seats will work fine until you shut off the car. When you pull the seat fuse, you can hear a faint click soewhere like a relay resetting. The car had a leak in the sunroof drains that caused a lot of water in the carpet and seats, it was stripped and cleaned and I cleaned the ground contact points to be sure no corrosion had accumilated. I found the ICE box and some relays under the dash but nothing is marked flasher so I can't tell which unit to test. My wiring diagram doesn't show a flasher but the wires going to the ICE board, which doesn't look burned or shorted anywhere. Any place to continue testing would be greatly appreciated.

Water damage can drive you nuts. Find the other relay center and be sure it is clean and dry. There is a link at the bottom of main forum page (Repair Manuals) it is for Mitchell-1, all wiring diagrams and diagnostic info you will need is in there. There is also an electric component locator.

The wiring diagrams I have are from Mitchell, the output from the turn signal switch is an input to the ICE box and I get 12 volts at the box when the turn signal is applied. I'm suppoed to get a flashing output from pin 1 of the box to the left indicator lights, which ain't happening. Gotta be the box. I can't seem to find out much about the unit, any info on the thing would be appreciated.
